The waste wood recycler located in the EcoPark, Hong Kong Hung Wai Wooden Board Company (Hung Wai) is now producing a kind of renewable fuel with higher operation efficiency, wood pellets from waste wood, by transforming ts operation mode from turning waste wood to wood chips -- the materials used in flake boards making. Burning wood pellets is less polluting than conventional charcoal, and the ashes from wood pellets can be used in composting as well.

Hung Wai is now seeking opportunities to partner with more organizations and companies, with a view to recycling more waste wood. Please contact Mr. Wong (6342 4628) or Ms. Zhang (9356 3679) of Hong Kong Hung Wai Wooden Board Company if you have any waste wood supply or are interested in the procurement of wood pellets.

Reuse of food waste - Cleaning by orange peel

Orange peel, which is being considered as food waste by most people, can be a good helper for dish washing.

Principle: Limonene, an ingredient of orange peel, can remove oil effectively.

Method:

  1. Squeeze juice onto the dishes by folding orange peel, then add some water and detergent onto the dishes;
  2. Clean the dishes by using the inner white fibrous layer of orange peel as mopping cloth, then use the outer surface layer of orange peel to wipe the dishes;
  3. After rinsing, the dishes will become oil-free.
Cleaning dishes by orange peel, not only helps to fully utilize waste materials, but also helps to save water and detergent.
