The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) invited tender for lease of a lot with an area 4,920 m2 for waste recycling business in November 2017 (Tender Reference No.: EP17-04). The tender was closed on 5 January 2018. In accordance with the established mechanism and the fair, open and just principle, the EPD will arrange open tender for lease of available lots in a timely manner. Interested recyclers are advised to pay attention to the EPD's tender notice.

'Dump Less, Save More, Recycle Right' Kick-Off Ceremony cum 2017 'Friends of EcoPark' Award Presentation Ceremony was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19th December 2017 to honor a total of 218 organisations from both the public and private sectors in recognition of their support for EcoPark tenants and to encourage further collaboration to enhance the local recycling industry. The awarded companies and organisations comprise a wide range of businesses in sectors including hotels, catering, engineering, logistics, retail, cleansing and property management, as well as a number of organisations from the public sector.

At the sharing session of the Ceremony, representative of EcoPark tenant, Hong Kong Biomass (Wood) Collect and Recycle Limited, introduced her latest development of the recycling business, and how the Scheme has helped to sustain her business. Representative from one of the awardees, Swire Properties Limited, also shared how the Scheme has helped the continuous implementation of environmental measures during operation

Tenant News
Hong Kong Biomass (Wood) Collect and Recycle Company Limited

EcoPark tenant, Hong Kong Biomass (Wood) Collect and Recycle Company Limited (trading name: China Commercial Logistics Company) which engages in waste wood recycling business has commenced operation since 1 August 2017. The collected waste wood, e.g. wood pallet, will be turned into a renewable fuel, namely wood pellet, via crashing, sieving and briquetting processes, with a view to reducing deforestation.

On Fat Lung Innovative Resources Limited

Founded in 1979, EcoPark tenant, On Fat Lung Innovative Resources Limited, commences operation for recycling of waste rubber tyres on 18 December 2017. The collected waste rubber tyres will be shredded, sorted and cracked to produce rubber powder and subsequently processed into various rubber products, e.g. rubber bricks and rubber pad.

E. Tech Management (HK) Limited

EcoPark tenant, E. Tech Management (HK) Limited, a WEEE recycler, is now under trail commissioning and is expected to commence operation in the first quarter of 2018.

 
 
Special Tour

Two mainland officials under the Civil Service Exchange Programme visited EcoPark on 27 November 2017. They were briefed on some of the Government's key initiatives to support the development of the recycling industry e.g. Recycling Fund and EcoPark. They also visited the waste cooking oil recycling plant of Champway Technology Limited.

An official from the Department of Environmental Affairs, Republic of South Africa visited EcoPark on 5 December 2017 and exchanged views with EPD representatives on both sides' supporting measures to the development of the recycling industry. He also visited K. Wah Construction Products Limited and was introduced to the recycling process of construction and demolition waste as well as waste glass.

Delegates from the Guangdong Environmental Protection Department visited EcoPark on 16 December 2017. They were briefed on the development of EcoPark, the implementation of Recycling Fund, and the latest progress in WEEE PRS. They also visited WEEE‧PARK.
