What's New

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) previously invited the recycling industry to tender for lease of a lot in EcoPark with an area of about 5,000 square meters (Tender Reference No.: EP16-04). After assessment, the lease was awarded to China Commercial Logistics Company Limited for recycling waste wood and rattan.

Tenancies of EcoPark’s Phase 1 are due to expire one after another between 2017 and 2019. In accordance with the established mechanism and the fair, open and just principle, the EPD will arrange open tender for lease of available lots in a timely manner. Interested recyclers are advised to pay attention to the EPD’s tender notice.

Green Information

Hong Kong has generated substantial amount of waste due to affluence. The growing waste load means landfills are being filled up faster than expected. Yet, many items that end up in landfills are not waste at all. A large quantity of reusable but unwanted consumer goods is disposed of due to lack of alternative outlets.

The Hong Kong Second-hand Exchange is a free community service provided by the EPD, with the aim to promote the exchange of reusable products and thereby, help to reduce, reuse and recycle waste in Hong Kong.
