Eco Charity Triathlon was successfully held on 24 May 2015 in Shiu Wing Steel Mill and the EcoPark. Apart from promoting Triathlon activity and raising the eco-awareness of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” to the public, with the Hong Kong Bone Marrow Foundation as the beneficiary, it also aimed to raise awareness of the importance of bone marrow donation to younger generations.

Date and location of the event were not inscribed on the race backdrop so as to ensure its reuse in future.

For the sake of promoting EcoPark to the recycling industry practitioners and introducing business opportunities to our tenants, representative of the EcoPark Management Company participated the BEC Leadership Networking Series with the representatives of Li Tong Group, Champway Technology Ltd. and South China Reborn Resources (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd. on 25 June 2015.

Guide of Tenants

Mr. Wong Hon Meng, Assistant Director (Waste Reduction & Recycling Division) of Environmental Protection Department (EPD), chaired the first Tenants Liaison Meeting in the EcoPark on 12 May 2015 with a view to strengthening the communication between EPD officials and the tenants, understanding the operational situations of the tenants and reporting promotion plans.

Introduction to Tenant

Champway Technology Ltd. (Champway) is the only recycler in the EcoPark engaging in waste cooking oil (WCO) recycling. WCO collected from local restaurants and food processing trade is delivered to Champway’s recycling facilities in the EcoPark for recycling to high quality biodiesel meeting both American (ASTM D6751) and the EU (EN14214) standards. The operation of the Champway’s recycling facilities in the EcoPark must be in compliance with the requirements of the relevant Environmental Permit, thereby posing no impact on surrounding environment in the course of WCO recycling processes. General public, institutions and organizations feeling interesting in supplying their WCO to Champway for recycling are welcome to call EcoPark hotline 2496 7633 for arranging collection of WCO.

Special Tours

The International Conference on Solid Waste 2015 (ICSWHK2015) was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 19 to 23 May 2015 and a field trip to the EcoPark and some of the tenants were also organized in the morning of 23 May 2015. Representative of the EcoPark Management Company also attended the conference together with some tenants with a view to sharing experience on the latest information of solid waste management with the conference participants and promoting recycling business of the EcoPark tenants.

Representatives of E.Tech Management (HK) Ltd. briefed the conference participants about their operation at the EcoPark and demonstrated the use of hard disk shredder.
Conference participants also visited South China Reborn Resources (Zhongshan) Co., Ltd. to have a better understanding of their food waste recycling business and the production processes of animal feeds.

The Environment, Hygiene and District Development Committee (EHDDC) of Tuen Mun District Council visited EcoPark on 23 June 2015. Apart from visiting the EcoPark Visitor Centre, EHDDC members also visited K. Wah Construction Products Limited, South China Reborn Resources (Zhongshan) Company Limited and E-Tech Management (HK) Limited in order to understand the latest development of their recycling businesses.
