Lessons to Green
A useful and eco-friendly way to turn a waste metal can into treasure

Not only can a waste metal can earn you a little extra money, it can also be made into useful stuff:

  1. Wash the metal can with clean water;
  2. Use a cutter to cut open the top of the metal can;
  3. Use a pair of scissors to cut the metal can into separated vertical bars (retain 1.5 cm width from the bottom)
  4. Bend the vertical bars backwards into a flower shape.
Caution: Beware of the sharp edge; children should be accompanied by adults for the activity.

A metal can is transformed into a flower-shaped container.

5 June 2013: World Environment Day

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5. This year's theme is "Think.Eat.Save", which aims to encourage everyone to reduce the food waste and to minimize the environmental impact generated from food production.

In fact, about 25% of habitable land, 70% of fresh water consumption, 80% of deforestation and 30% of greenhouse gas emissions are related to global food production. Therefore, when we are wasting food, we are also wasting the resources used in its production.

According to the statistics of 2011 from the Environmental Protection Department, about 40% (about 2,500 tonnes) of domestic waste are food waste, which not only adds to the burdens of our landfills, but also exhausts the Earth’s valuable resources.

Start putting "Think. Eat. Save" into practice from today - THINK before we EAT and help to SAVE our environment!
