Retrospect of the "EcoPark Recycling Weeks 2012"

In our continuing effort to increase recycling levels in the community, the Environmental Protection Department and the EcoPark Management Company jointly organized a 2-month long "EcoPark Recycling Weeks 2012" in 18 public housing estates in Tuen Mun and Yuen Long area. The recycling activities, with the recycle bins installed for collecting waste plastics and the fixed-point waste collection counter for gifts, earned district-wide upsurge in public participation in recycling.

"Made of Paper" Debut Exhibition

Traditionally, paper is utilized as an efficient vessel for text – a print media. Have you ever thought that paper can switch its role to become a printing tool?

Designers from the baseline workshop endued waste paper with a new identity. Waste paper sheets were stacked up to be as thick as wood logs and were then carved to become text stamps for printing green messages on exhibits. The exhibits were on display in the "Made of Paper" Debut Exhibition held recently.

The objective of the exhibition, according to the designers from baseline workshop, is to encourage the public to look at things from a different angle by exploring the possible usage of paper and its potential to be up-cycled.
