The waste disposal roving exhibition at Tuen Mun organized by Environmental Protection Department was successfully held. It is instrumental in inspiring locals into waste reduction action.

To promote recycling and reuse, the entire exhibition area, including the very eye-catching sculpture, was built from recyclable paperboard. The sculpture - a degenerated city that is overly occupied by trash, led visitors to rethink about the future of our city.

Besides, through the exhibits and with the help of promoters, the public can enrich their understanding of different waste management facilities and be encouraged to ponder the pros and cons of different facilities, by which they can seek the best way for waste management.

The future is unwritten, and the pen is in your hand. Act now! Change your old habits and put green living into practice by reducing waste at source and recycling.

Guide of Tenants
Li Tong Group

If you have an old computer and need to get rid of it, do not throw your monitor into the garbage bin. Computer components contain toxic heavy metals that shouldn’t be dumped to the landfills. What you need to do is to contact Li Tong Group or other waste computer recyclers which can help to free yourself from the outdated equipment in a timely and environmentally safe manner.

Li Tong Group helps your old monitor to find a new home after checking, fixing and removal of all data stored in your computer by formatting it. If the computer is non-functional and cannot be reused, it is demagnetized and dismantled properly.

CRT monitors contain leaded glasses which have to be broken down for removal of the toxic lead. LCD monitors are generally much less hazardous and are dismantled into smaller components manually. The components are then sorted according to their material types and usage. Useful components and metals are harvested for reuse, while materials such as plastics are recycled.

Getting to KNOW
RAP and Rubberized Asphalt for Road pavement

Simply by considering the road, EcoPark has already demonstrated the concept of reuse and recycling. Unlike conventional roads, roads in EcoPark are built from material recovered from road pavement called reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) blended with new asphalt, therefore the material is reused for road paving. On top of that, a layer of wearing course with recycled rubber tyre content is adopted. Approximately 25,000 waste tyres were used in the construction of road in EcoPark Phase 1, reducing the burden of landfills in Hong Kong, and help to reduce the road noise as well as improving the skid resistant.
