What's New
The first batch of EcoPark Phase 2 Lots Opens for Tender

The HKSAR Government is tackling the growing waste problem of Hong Kong through a multi-pronged approach comprising waste reduction and recycling; building modern waste treatment facilities to energy incineration as core technology as well as extending the three existing landfills as final repositories for wastes that cannot be recycled or treated (e.g. construction waste and incineration ash).

As an essential element of the HKSAR Government's strategy on waste management, EcoPark is definitely one of effective means to tackle the continuously growing waste problem in Hong Kong. It is also one of key initiatives to provide long-term land at affordable cost for the development of the recycling and environmental industry with a view of encouraging investment in more advanced technologies and value-added processes in Hong Kong.

The first batch of EcoPark Phase 2 lots has already opened for tender starting from 4 March 2011. Both local and overseas recycling business operators are welcome to submit tender. "Seize this opportunity to set up recycling plant at the EcoPark and showcase Hong Kong's recycling industry to the world!"

For further details about the tendering of EcoPark phase 2 lots, please go to the EcoPark's website at www.ecopark.com.hk.

Getting to KNOW
Solar Photovoltaic System

When you raise your head up outside the Administration Building of the EcoPark, you can see some metal boards on the roof. Do you know what they are? They are the Solar Photovoltaic System.

We believe you must be very familiar with solar energy but how about this system's structure. This system is made up of semiconductor devices (solar cells) capable of directly converting light energy into electricity. Silico-based PV is used for absorbing solar power. Multiple Solar Photovoltaic systems can be connected to form small or large arrays, from several hundred watts capacity to hundreds of kilowatts.
